Naira Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, was arrested on Tuesday night after the mysterious death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known by his stage name Mohbad. This was announced in a statement released by the Lagos State Police Command.

Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, saying, “Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, has been apprehended for questioning and other investigative procedures.”

On Tuesday night, Naira Marley revealed in a tweet that he had returned to Lagos, Nigeria, to assist police with their investigation into Mohbad’s death. He promised to help in any way he could, and he emphasised the need to find the truth for the sake of justice. Naira Marley made the following statement: “I would like to notify you that I have just returned to Lagos, Nigeria, to participate in the current inquiry. It is essential that I do my role for Imole. In an effort to get to the bottom of things and see that justice is done, I have scheduled a meeting with law enforcement.

Naira Marley and the infamous music producer Balongun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry (who is presently in police detention), had been invited for interrogation by the police in relation to Mohbad’s death prior to this development. The police had earlier verified that the autopsy on Mohbad had been done and that the findings were waiting. This turn of events occurred when the remains of Mohbad were exhumed by a team of members of the Nigeria Police Force and medical professionals working together.

In addition, the nurse who allegedly injected the musician, causing his untimely death on Tuesday, September 12th, is now in police custody. Last Friday, in the Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu, a coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death got underway.
