Ahmad didn’t argue in court. He said, “Yes, I did it,” to all the charges. The EFCC, which deals with money crimes, wanted him in jail for a long time. Ahmad’s lawyer asked for a lighter punishment because Ahmad hadn’t been in trouble before.
But the judge didn’t go easy on Ahmad. Justice Dogondaji decided to send him to prison for 87 years! Plus, Ahmad has to pay a big fine too – N200,000.00 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) for each of the 12 charges. That’s a total of N2,400,000.00 (Two Million Four Hundred Thousand Naira). Ouch!
And there’s more. The judge also said Ahmad has to give back all the money he took – N225,661,000 (Two Hundred and Twenty-Five Million Six Hundred and Sixty-One Thousand Naira) – to the people he tricked. The EFCC will make sure the money goes back to the right people.
