The family of the victim said the person they suspect is insane. They said he always complained about noise, even when they weren’t making any noise. On Sunday (i.e., the Sunday that followed before this post was written), he confronted the family again and used a gun.

However, the daughter of the victim said, “He killed my brother and my dad. “The family lives in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The police say their angry neighbor shot and killed a 47-year-old man named Bladimy Mathurin and his 27-year-old son, Chinwai Mode.

Mathurin’s wife, Marie Delille, is now a widow and a mother in grief. She said that ever since her family moved into the fourth floor of the Flatbush Gardens apartment building four years ago, they argued with the man living directly below them because he complained that their kids were too loud. Sunday was no different.

“I was in the kitchen, washing dishes, and I heard loud noises. I asked, ‘Did anybody make noise?’ The kids said, ‘No, Mommy, nobody made noise.’ My husband knocked on the floor to respond. The man came upstairs and kicked the door,” Delille said.

The police say Mathurin opened the door, argued with the neighbor, and was threatening him with a pair of scissors when the neighbor shot the father and son in the head. But Delille, who says she was there, disagrees with the police.

“My husband had no gun, no weapon. Why did you bring a gun to shoot my family? Why would you bring a gun to hurt my family? Why? Why?” Delille said.

Moreover, a friend of the family, Mickael Louis, said, “He looks scary because he’s muscular, but that’s not who he is. He is a nice guy.”

The family and friends are not only grieving but also worried about their safety. They fear the shooter might come back. Delille said, “I want justice to be done.”
